June 2018 - a much warmer prospectt

After a cold winter blending into a colder spring, a much warmer early summer sprang upon us.
The relative extremes seems to have suited some of the flowering plants especially the primroses and azaleas. There was a sudden flourish of blossoms especially on the black thorns and more so not the white thorns although they seemed in a hurry to leave too. However there should be plenty of sloes an red berries in the autumn.
Basil cuttings did we'll in the porch and potted up well after rooting in water - several meals garnished with their top leaves. I've had 4 rhubarb deserts and some reasonable sticks still remain. Strawberries continue to dribble in - a small punnet or so every 2 - 3 days.

The wild roses also put on a good display as did the climber Dance Du Feu until the high winds of Hector knocked their heads off.

Peas growing well in the little raised bed, attached to the twiggy supports:

A strawberry plant invited itself into a pot of heath:

Some glorious days this mid-June - the canals and Cooson point particularly attractive.
